My Productive Day

Some of you know me well enough to know that I am not a yardwork enthusiast. I didn't have to do more than pull a few weeds along a chainlink fence in our "desert oasis" in Palmdale, CA. Pulling weeds is probably my least favorite of any yardwork chore. So, what did I do for much of this lovely Saturday, you find yourself asking and waiting for my answer with great anticipation.... I weeded! Yup, I spent about 3 1/2 hours weeding! I have a lovely little patch of dirt beyond my concrete patio which was growing some lovely greenery, that needed to be pulled. The dirt is so hard here. I had to soak the ground a couple times to soften it up. After that was done, I ventured to the side of my place to clean out under the bushes. I spent less time doing this because there were scratchy bushes & roses. I also found a dead frog, by the way, it's still there. I'm just grateful I didn't run into any live creatures other than the worms & flying insects one encounters in the great outdoors. Of course I didn't think to take pictures of the before as I didn't think I would be as proud of my accomplishment as I am. I am not a perfectionist and the work around the side and front are by no means done, but I decided to leave it for another day.....perhaps next year sometime. I did decide to take pictures of some of my piles as proof that I really did do something today. Now, these are not Monica quality. She would make these piles of weeds look like art. My pictures make them look like what they are....piles of nasty weeds & dead leaves. So, enjoy!

Book Tag

Thanks Monica for the tag! There were quite a few books to choose from as they are all in the same room as my computer.

1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages).
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog.
5. Tag 5 people.

The book I picked up was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

" ' Very well then, together,' he said shrugging." (The minister of magic comes to speak to Harry about Dumbledore's will)

For the TAG....Zack/Michelle, Jen K., Jenn C., Melinda, Carrie B.
Sadly, I don't have a lot of people to choose from and I have no idea if all of you even look at my blog. Oh well.

My Passport!

Well, I'll admit that I have had my passport for a while now and haven't posted about it. I couldn't take a picture of my lovely photo because of the horrible glare. I can't wait to put some stamps on it!

A New Me...sort of

So, I decided I needed a little change. I actually hadn't been thinking about it for very long and it wasn't quite what I had pictured in my head, but I like it. I haven't had light hair for a while, so it will take a minute to get used to. Also, I went against my rule & will have shorter hair for the summer. (I usually go short in the winter & long in the summer) I have included kind of a before and after.

February in Palmdale

April in St. George

Yes, I now realize that I am wearing the same shirt. Also, please excuse the photos...I hate taking pictures of myself, I feel like a grinning fool!
